Connecting Refugees With Resources For Life
EMBARC was founded in 2012 by refugees from Burma for refugees based on the belief that sustainable change comes from a community empowered to help themselves. We are Iowa's first refugee-led service organization. Our mission is to empower the community toward self-sufficiency through advocacy, education, and community development throughout Iowa. Our vision is to see refugee families thrive in Iowa with the skills, resources, and support needed for life. Our culturally specific programs include a wide range of education in parenting, interpreting services, advocacy programs, and access to food, job opportunities, mentoring, and more. It's all about building stronger refugee communities, which helps build a stronger Iowa.
Share Your Time and Skills
If you have skills to lend or time to spare, there are families who need you. It takes very little time to make a big difference in someone’s life, and we’d love for you to join us!
Community Impact
EMBARC helps fill the gaps by connecting refugees with the education and resources they need to integrate into the community and realize the full potential of their skills.
Creating a Pathway Toward Opportunity
Many immigrant and refugee families are faced with complex challenges when accessing the workforce, child care and support services — impeding their ability to help grow and contribute to their Iowa community.
