What we do

EMBARC’s CBESL program started in 2013 to help refugees and immigrants develop confidence in their English language skills, and improve their career readiness. Co-teachers are from the refugee communities served. They understand the students’ culture and are aware of the barriers that students face while accessing community resources. The program also provides weekly conversation hours and other community-based support.

In response to community interests and needs, we are continuing to deliver citizenship focused classes for eligible students from Burma. Visit EMBARC’s education calendar for more details.

In line with current civic engagement focused work, the program is also offering voter registration events and education to the community as we approach election day!
